Having started with film cameras and darkroom processing, I appreciate the ways in which modern digital imaging facilitates our learning, both in the artistic and technical aspects of photography. I try to capture images that reveal nature's creatures and phenomena in ways that enhance our joy as we marvel at the wonders of the world we all share.

As an enthusiastic photographer for over 40 years, I appreciate the advances in digital imaging and the internet that enable us to learn from one another and share our visions. In the past most of my photographs were of scenes encountered while hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. In recent years I have been drawn to birding and the challenges of photographing these beautiful and fascinating creatures. While I am based in New England, I have enjoyed travel within the United States and am planning international trips for exposure to more diverse birding opportunities. I continue to work part-time as an ophthalmologist, and I marvel at the miracle of sight and visual perception in revealing the wonders of nature. I welcome your comments, questions, and critiques, as I believe we can all learn and improve through sharing ideas and experiences. (Profile photo by Andy Goldberg.)
