Having started with film cameras and darkroom processing, I have great appreciation for the ways in which modern digital imaging facilitates our learning, both in the artistic and technical aspects of photography. I try to capture images that reveal nature's creatures and phenomena in ways that are often difficult to perceive in our fast-paced world.

As an enthusiastic photographer for over 40 years, I appreciate the advances in digital imaging and the internet that enable us to learn from one another and share our vision. Most of my photography in the past was derived from hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, but recently I have become very involved in learning about birds and dealing with the challenges of photographing these beautiful and fascinating creatures. Opportunities for pursuing this interest are plentiful in the metropolitan Boston area and Cape Cod, but I still spend time in New Hampshire. I continue to work part-time as an ophthalmologist, and I marvel at the value of sight and visual perception in revealing the wonders of nature. I welcome your comments, questions, and critiques, as I believe we can all learn and improve through sharing ideas and experiences. (Profile photo by Andy Goldberg.)
